In an effort to foster broader usage of the Spring Village Library by students from the All-age school the Spring Village Association (New York Chapter) has donated text books to the Library.
The chapter has provided a pair of text books from each grade at the All-age school which will be permanently housed in the library. With these resources on hand, students will be able to do their homework more effectively. This is especially beneficial for poorer families within the community which sometimes cannot afford to purchase these books.
In addition to text books for the All-age school the chapter has also donated a set of welding books for use by students from the Spring Village Training Institute.
Since its inception almost eight years ago, the Library has been housed within the confines of the Spring Village Training Institute. It therefore sees the institute as another Spring Village Institution in which it wholeheatedly serves.
The Spring village Library though small in size, has created a section for the younger population of our community. This is the result of an ongoing strategy to connect youngsters to the library with the promise of seeing more proficient students coming through our school system in the future.
This idea came out of meetings with the Basic and All Age school principals in 2013. The children's section will host story time sessions to help the children develop a love for reading.
This was created with the help of library volunteers Shantel Frazer and Kimberly Graham alsong with donations of books and colourful mats from the New York chapter.

The Spring Village Community Library welcomes Stacy-Ann Griffiths as its new librarian. Originally from May Pen Clarendon and a former student of Denbigh High, Stacy-Ann comes to us with critical skills acquired at Mico University, where she earned a Bachelors degree in Education with an emphasis in Computer studies.
We also bid farewell to Tashana Bloomfield who has served as our librarian for several years. She has moved on to other ventures and therefore we are indeed grateful for her years of service. Tashana has made contributions in our homework program and as a result many of those children she impacted have gone on to do very well in their education.
Stacy-Ann's passion is to apply her training as an educatior to effect tangible changes in the lives of those in her environment. She hopes to focus much of her talents on the needs of the younger population. Her training at Mico has equipped her with the skills to enable students to identify their special atributes and as a result, fully realize their educational goals.
As an avid sports person, Stacy-Ann has participated in various activities and has also represented different institutions as a leader. She intends to follow her passion in this area since sports has always been a key part of her life.
In her role as Librarian, she hopes to improve the services available to students so they are better able to access the information and materials available. Recognizing that research is a major part of the student's life at the library, she hopes to foster the use of more Internet and computer-related resources.
Lastly, Stacy-Ann is also very excited to working with the children of the community in the after school program. She says "when it comes to them, there are alot of possibilities...". Two areas she plans to focus on is reading as well as the use of tools (software, books, resource materials etc. ) to impact their ability to read and understand concepts.
The Spring Village Community Library is fortunate to have her on the team. With her talents and special skills it is clear that Stacy-Ann will become a key player to taking the library to the next level.
